ocean

Take a walk by the sea and life just slows down. Stop and look out to the sea. It is said that fresh salty air brings good oxygen to the blood, promotes deep breathing which slows the heart and calms the mind. Being by the ocean is where the air is most pure and the long distance views out to the horizon rests our eyes.

"The cure for anything is saltwater - sweat, tears or the sea" Isak Dinesan

dusk

The last light of dusk gives closure to the events of the day, when activities and expectations are eased. Ultimately dusk is the time when the descending darkness brings precious rest and comfort to the weary.

winter

When the winter darkness sets we can experience days upon days of only the softest cool light. The landscape becomes diffuse in monochromatic luminosity.

The beauty of winter displays itself through the shortened days, we can catch every sunrise and every sunset.

coastlines

There is nothing better than some time by the sea to blow off the cobwebs, inspiration is found from the gentle rolling setting of the east coasts to the sleeping giant landscape of the rugged west coasts. How the skies cast their light over the shorelines is always exciting.

shore

The shoreline places us at the edge, physically and psychologically. It is an in-between that separates our safe ground from the wider expanse of the open sea, the unknown. The tension is relentless and at the same time it is a reassuring constant, something permanent and something fluid.

dawn

In summer dawn is that beautiful early light that floats slowly over the horizon while the rest of the world remains quiet and still.

In winter the new dawn is lazy to rise but brings fresh hope, relief and reassurance that the darkness will lift.
